This week, the Braidwater Group is participating in a UK-wide initiative called ‘Open Doors’ aimed at opening up the house building industry to young people and encouraging them to explore potential opportunities.

Organised by Construction Futures in partnership with Build UK for the first time in Northern Ireland, the event runs from 18th March to 22nd March 2025.
Fionnuala McKenna, Head of Strategic Development at Construction Futures, highlighted the initiative’s goal:
“Open Doors provides a fantastic opportunity for young people and those considering a career change to discover the breadth of opportunities within the construction industry. By going behind the scenes, participants can see firsthand the diverse career paths available.”

Aisling Conway, Senior People Manager at the Braidwater Group, highlighted what their involvement meant:
“We’re thrilled to be part of Open Doors this week, welcoming students from five different Schools/Colleges to our sites. During tours, we’ll provide insights and information about various careers in construction. One of the tours will focus on the role of software in modern construction practices, essential for planning and on-site activities.”
“This initiative is a great platform to showcase our industry to schools, colleges, and universities across Northern Ireland. We extend our thanks to Construction Futures for organising this valuable event.”
Throughout the week, the Braidwater Group will host students from Foyle College, Limavady High School, North West Regional College, St. Columb’s College and St. Joseph’s Boys’ Secondary School.
