As part of the Braidwater Group’s commitment to support the communities it works in, this year the company is pleased to have played a key role in responding to Eglinton Men’s Shed request for help.

Braidwater’s ambition is to build better communities, by supporting a wide range of local charitable, community and sporting organisations throughout the year and during the Christmas period.

Bob Parke, Hon Secretary of Eglinton Men’s Shed, described its purpose:

‘’Eglinton Men’s Shed is a community based organisation where people feel at home and can pursue their practical interests, hobbies etc.  

‘’It is a place of skill-sharing, informal learning, individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction.’’

Bob added what the support from Braidwater meant to the community group:

‘’Recently the Men’s Shed decided to convert some of the unused waste ground into allotments and to devote the rest to a wild flower garden to help improve local biodiversity.

‘’The soil on the waste ground was tired and had very little depth and we’re delighted that the Braidwater Group responded to our request and donated several loads of good quality topsoil.

Darren Farnan, marketing manager, Braidwater Group, added his delight to being able to provide the support: 

“We’re delighted to be able to support the Men’s Shed in their efforts to create an area of biodiversity, which is similar to what we’re doing on our sites.

‘’As a business, we at Braidwater, try to provide support where we can and we wish Bob and the group all the best with their wildflower meadow.’’
